honoring mother and father (Ex. 20:12; 21:15,17; Eph. 6:2).

his mother. A habitual correspondence and enduring affection

spoke of her as a model of maternal character and female
excellence, and it is said that he never met his constituents in
Woodford county, after her death, without some allusion to her,
which deeply affected both him and his audience. And nearly the
last words uttered by this great statesman were, 'Mother, mother,
mother'." (Mother, Home, and Heaven; p.47) In the Bible, emphasis
is placed upon a mother's opportunity to have influence for good. 
Godly mothers helped produce men like Moses and Samuel. Timothy,
from a child, knew the Scriptures, being taught them by his mother
and his grandmother.
